ATEC and Choose Aerospace Launch Industry-Recognized Credential for Aviation Maintenance Students

ATEC, in partnership with Choose Aerospace, is proud to announce the launch of the General Aviation Maintenance Credential, a new industry-recognized certification designed to validate a student’s knowledge of the general subject areas as outlined in the FAA Mechanic ACS.

The credential is awarded to students who successfully complete the Choose Aerospace curriculum and achieve a passing score of 75% or higher on a comprehensive written exam. Developed to strengthen career pathways, support secondary programming, and provide third-party validation of essential aviation maintenance knowledge, the credential represents a major step forward in aviation workforce development.

Credentialed students may gain an advantage in applying for non-certificated technician roles and could also be eligible for credit for prior learning at FAA-certificated aviation maintenance technician schools. For secondary and CTE programs, the credential provides a measurable outcome aligned with FAA standards—helping elevate and formalize early training efforts.

To protect exam integrity, testing must be proctored by an approved Choose Aerospace program. Exams are offered at set times throughout the year.
