Congressional Resolution Recognizes AMT Day

Aviation maintenance technicians received national recognition this month as Congresswoman Hillary Scholten introduced a resolution supporting National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day, observed annually on May 24.

The designation honors the legacy of Charles E. Taylor, the mechanic who designed and built the engine that powered the Wright brothers' first successful flight, while recognizing the essential role aviation maintenance professionals play in ensuring the safety and reliability of the nation's aviation system.

The resolution highlights the contributions of aviation maintenance technicians across commercial, military, cargo, and general aviation sectors and underscores the importance of developing and sustaining a skilled maintenance workforce to meet industry demand.

National Aviation Maintenance Technician Day serves as an opportunity to celebrate the technicians, educators, students, and industry partners who support the aviation maintenance profession and help prepare the next generation of aviation maintenance professionals.
