Coalition Urges Support for FAA Funding Protections

ATEC is tracking congressional activity related to the Aviation Funding Solvency Act (H.R. 6086), a bipartisan proposal to protect essential aviation functions during federal funding lapses. On December 18, the House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee advanced the bill, which means it will be eligible for consideration by the full House. If it passes there, it will move to the Senate.

The Modern Skies Coalition sent a letter urging committee members to support the bill. The coalition represents a broad group of aviation organizations and emphasized the need for uninterrupted FAA operations and continued access to aviation user fee revenue in the Airport and Airway Trust Fund. The goal is to ensure safety oversight, certification testing, air traffic control services, and other critical functions can continue even during government shutdowns.

Stable funding is important for the aviation maintenance workforce. Shutdown-related delays in oversight, hiring, and certification can create setbacks for training programs and employers. ATEC joined coalition partners in supporting this legislation and will continue monitoring progress as it moves through Congress.
