Organization Overview
North Central Institute (NCI) founded in 1988 by Dr. John D. “Doc” McCurdy, whose 27‑year Army career and passion for aviation shaped NCI’s commitment to focused, career‑driven education. For more than 35 years, NCI has served the Clarksville, Tennessee and Fort Campbell, Kentucky communities as an FAA‑designated Aviation Maintenance Technician School, accredited by the Council on Occupational Education and authorized by the Tennessee Higher Education Commission.
NCI’s mission is to deliver quality aviation education that builds technical expertise, critical thinking, and professional values. The 6.9‑acre Clarksville campus features a 30,000 sq. ft. aviation training facility with modern classrooms, specialized labs, and real aircraft including a Bell 407 FireX Helicopter, Cessna 310, Cessna 172, reciprocating engines, turbine engines, and airline‑standard tools. Students receive immersive, hands‑on training that prepares them for careers in commercial aviation, manufacturing, MRO operations, and defense.
NCI offers FAA Part 147 Airframe and Powerplant programs and an Associate of Applied Science in Aviation Technology. Graduates enter national and global aviation industries with strong technical skills and professional readiness. More than 2,500 alumni contribute to the safety and reliability of air travel, impacting over 2.7 million passengers daily. Employers consistently seek NCI graduates for their integrity, discipline, and work ethic.
