Professional Bio
Kelly Filgo is the Director of Operations for Choose Aerospace, a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to addressing one of the biggest threats to continued aviation maintenance industry growth: the availability of a diverse, qualified technical workforce. Kelly served for eleven years at Texas State Technical College in multiple leadership roles, including program director for the Waco campus Part 147 school and as curriculum manager for all three of their AMT schools in his time at that organization. He also developed and taught aviation maintenance management courses as an adjunct professor for Texas A&M University’s Central Texas Campus aviation program.
Kelly holds A&P, Private Pilot, and Part 107 certificates and was introduced to aviation at a young age by his grandfather who let him help build an RV-3 at the age of 10 years old. He holds a Master’s of Higher Education Administration, a Graduate Certificate in Higher Education Assessment and Institutional Research, and served on the ATEC Board of Directors. Kelly has written for the ATEC Journal and presented at several ATEC conferences.
Kelly is married to a brilliant academic librarian, has four wonderful sons, and is a total nerd who plays TTRPGs with his friends and builds model airplanes for fun. Kelly lives in Waco, TX.
