Professional Bio
Colonel (Retired) Stan Smith began his 30-year military career when he graduated as a Distinguished Military Graduate from Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Terre Haute, IN, in 1985 with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering. He later earned a Master of Science degree in Strategic Studies from Air University at Maxwell Air Force Base. His military training and education include Air Assault School, Airborne School, Rotary Wing Flight School, Aviation Maintenance Officer’s Course, the Maintenance Test Pilot Course, Operations Research and Systems Analyst School, and the Senior Service College. He was a Senior Army Aviator rated in several aircraft. Colonel Smith commanded five different Army organizations in his career, including an Aviation Maintenance Company, an Air Traffic Services Battalion, and lastly the U.S. Army Warrant Officer Career College at Fort Rucker, AL. After military retirement, Stan began a new career as the Director of the Alabama Aviation College in Ozark, AL in 2018. The Alabama Aviation College has an enrollment of over 500 students with students in Aviation Maintenance, Avionics, Composites, and Mechatronics.
