New aerospace technologies are currently under development, and some flying, that will change how people and cargo will travel forever.  These new technologies include Urban Air Mobility, Hybrid Air Transports, Large Unmanned Cargo Aircraft, and Space Vehicles.  The deployment of these technologies will not be without its challenges related to infrastructure and workforce development.  However, the opportunities they offer cannot be ignored.  As aerospace professionals  and educators, we must be prepared to support the certification, manufacture, acquisition, operation, aftermarket support, and workforce development  for each of these systems.  Will we be ready for the expected growth in demand for these aerospace lift systems?

A Closer Look at Boeing's 2020-2039 Pilot and Technician Outlook

The 2020-2039 Boeing Pilot and Technician Outlook projects that 763,000 new civil aviation pilots, 739,000 new maintenance technicians and 903,000 new cabin crew members will be needed to fly and maintain the global fleet over the next 20 years. The forecast is inclusive of the commercial aviation, business aviation and civil helicopter industries and assumes air traffic recovers to 2019 levels within the next few years.

Get an overview of the findings, how Boeing anticipates COVID-19 will impact future personnel demand, and why training organizations are vital to industry's recovery.
