It’s time to take your experience as an A&P mechanic, and train tomorrow’s technicians at Aviation Institute of Maintenance. AIM is the largest family of FAA approved Part 147 aviation maintenance schools, and we are seeking instructors with creative and outgoing personalities to train young students for America’s aviation industry. Over the past 25 years, our schools have expanded to a dozen campuses in Las Vegas, Orlando, the San Francisco Bay area, Atlanta, Philadelphia, Kansas City, Dallas, Houston, Indianapolis, Charlotte, Virginia Beach, and Washington, DC.
AIM is now looking for qualified and experienced individuals that can pass along their skills to future Aviation Maintenance Technicians and prepare them for careers in the aviation industry. We currently have local openings for A&P Maintenance Instructors to help teach our growing group of students.
This position is a perfect opportunity for an experienced A&P Mechanic looking to take the next step in their education career path and impact the future of the Aviation industry. Classes are normally during the day or in the evening for six hours a day, four days per week, and at some campuses, three days over the weekend at eight hours per day. We provide a teacher training course to help you perfect your teaching style and learn how to translate your skills for the classroom and instructional hangar.
QUALIFICATIONS, EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
PITTSBURGH INSTITUTE OF AERONAUTICS, founded in 1929 is a nationwide leader in aviation maintenance and electronics training and is currently seeking a FULL TIME AVIATION MAINTENANCE (A&P) INSTRUCTOR at its branch campus in West Mifflin, PA.
Minimum Skills, Education & Experience:
FAA Airframe & Powerplant (A&P) Certification
3+ years of relevant, verifiable industry work experience
Demonstrated proficiency in the applicable subject areas including Aviation Math, Basic Electricity,
Basic Electronics, Airframe Systems and Powerplant Systems
Verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Familiarization with computer systems for word processing, databases, e-mail, and Internet use
Overview of Job Duties:
Conduct classroom lectures using approved lesson plans
Assist students in the shop/laboratory
Coordinate shop projects and keep inventory of training equipment and supplies
Submit accurate grade and attendance information at established intervals
Participate in on-the-job and formalized training programs
Work schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30AM – 3:30PM and occasional Saturdays to participate in the school’s open house and other school events.

Job Summary/Basic Function:
This position assists the Program Manager in providing instructional and technical support for aviation and advanced avionics labs. Assists in ensuring that appropriate tools, parts, and equipment are available, well-maintained, and in operational order and that the labs are prepared and ready for projects as schedule dictates. Assist in maintaining appropriate student, staff, and facility safety. Works directly with students, assisting them with necessary support for the accomplishment of aviation and avionics projects and theory assignments. Reports to Associate Dean of Aviation.
• FAA AMT Certificate with Airframe and Powerplant Ratings (or ability to obtain)
• Mechanical aptitude and a willingness to learn
• Adapts in changing environments; able to be flexible in shifting projects or priorities to meet needs
• Professional, ethical, and appropriate in all public and private interactions
• Able to meet deadlines and manage stress well
• Strong interpersonal and customer service skills
• Demonstrated ability to collaborate with diverse groups to achieve goals
• Comfortable and proficient in communicating and operating in a virtual environment
• Ability to complete required training for specialty equipment
• Can safely operate basic hand or power tools to create simple objects for use by the faculty (e.g. shipping crates, jigs, and cradles)
• Understands basic construction principles
• Must possess a current, valid, unrestricted driver’s license
-Experience with electrical systems, electronics, or avionics.
-1 year maintenance experience
-Experience working with students in a college level or similar training setting.
-Ability to troubleshoot basic computer or printer errors
-Aptitude for conceptualizing and implementing unusual or non-standard ideas

Work Hours: Full time 12 month position.

Additional $174 per month premium pay for the 1:30 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. shift.
