ATEC continually advocates on behalf of the aviation maintenance education community. By engaging with lawmakers, regulators and key government and industry stakeholders, the council builds lasting relationships and makes legitimate headway to improve the operational lives of part-147 certificated institutions.
Regulatory
ATEC helps develop clear, concise, and consistent rules, guidance, policy and interpretations; allowing uniform application of the law. The council is dedicated to helping regulated entities run their operations efficiently and to differentiate between government functions and industry responsibilities. See our issues pages for specifics on current undertakings:
Part 147
Airman Certification Standards
Legislative
The council is your resource for information about the aviation maintenance industry’s policy priorities and advocacy best practices. The overarching goal is to enact legislation that creates a more favorable economic climate for the aviation maintenance community at large and to beat back efforts to unnecessarily drive up costs or increase procedural or administrative burdens on educational institutions. While doing this, ATEC will help continually remind Congress about the importance of aviation maintenance education and encourage lawmakers to help the FAA do its job correctly and efficiently.

Communications
In all of these efforts, having the right resources, discussion topics and talking points is invaluable. ATEC members are already in the perfect positions to illustrate for stakeholders the value of aviation maintenance education and the impact of A&P schools on local communities. To help take that message one step further, ATEC provides industry data, communications tools and guidance to help individual institutions, administrators and instructors demonstrate the vital nature of their work to the lives and livelihoods of Americans.
STEM Education Coalition
Member dues support ATEC's seat on the STEM Education Coalition's leadership council. The organization engaged with the executive branch and gives technical education an opportunity to establish their own foothold in the STEM debate. In addition to the small Leadership Council, the STEM Coalition supports an expansive collection of affiliate members – over 600 organizations. ATEC encourages all of its members to sign up for a free affiliate membership.
