James Rardon Aviation Maintenance Technician Student of the Year Award
Nomination Deadline: February 1, 2013
Purpose: The Rardon Award recognizes the outstanding achievement of an Aviation Maintenance Technician student. The achievement must be demonstrated through academics as well as through involvement that makes a direct impact on the student’s associates, school and/or community.
Eligibility: To be nominated, an individual must be a full-time AMT student at an institution that is a member of the Aviation Technician Education Council.
Nomination Process: Nominators must complete a Nomination Form (below) with appropriate signatures, and the form package must be sent to the ATEC Business Office for consideration. The completed nomination packages may be mailed to:

In either case, to be eligible for consideration the nomination package must be received by the deadline shown above.
Review Process: Following receipt of the nominations, the ATEC Board of Directors will review all submissions and select finalists for the award. The nomination packages for the finalists will be forwarded to the Northrop Rice Foundation Board of Directors who will determine the James Rardon AMT Student of the Year award winner. The winner will be contacted by the end of February 2013.
Selection Criteria:
1. Leadership/Motivation: What has the student done to encourage and lead his/her fellow students to newer and higher levels of learning, or to promote aviation maintenance as a career?

2. Academics: How has the student approached his/her own learning, and what grade level has the student achieved?

3. School/Community: What has the student done to assist the school faculty develop new/better training methods, maintain necessary records and maintenance requirements, and/or promote the institution in the community?

4. Recommendation(s):A maximum of three additional recommendations or nomination statements will be considered to become as familiar as possible with the attributes, abilities and achievements of the nominated student.

Award: The 2013 James Rardon AMT Student of the Year award winner will receive an award plaque during the April 15, 2013 ATEC Annual Conference Award Luncheon in Tempe, AZ. The winner will also receive an ATEC conference registration fee waiver and payment of actual costs for coach airfare to/from the ATEC conference site, lodging at the ATEC conference hotel for up to three (3) nights at ATEC conference rates, and a $100 stipend to cover meals, baggage fees, and other incidentals payable by NRF after the winner provides air transportation and hotel receipts.
