President's Report
March 7th, 2013 - Raymond E. Thompson
ATEC held the first of two webinars on the proposed changes to Part 147 on March 6, 2013. A repeat of this webinar will take place on Wednesday, March 13, 2013, 3:00pm - 4:30om EST. Every member school needs to be briefed on what is being proposed for rule and procedural changes.
On Sunday, April 15th, two preconference sessions will be held to allow member schools to provide their feedback into final proposal development. There has never been a conference more important for your school to attend than this one. The proposed changes are far-ranging and will layout how we operate under Part 147 for many years to come.
ATEC encourages all members to join in the March 13 webinar if you did not attend the March 6 session. Download the information from the Member Login / Shared Curricular Materials section. Have a discussion at your school on the proposals and bring your voice to the conference.
The proposals contain elements we have been seeking for many years. As we move to create change now, and provide updates to the FAA in future, being a member of ATEC provides your school an opportunity to shape the future of aviation technician education. Ultimately, that is the greatest benefit of ATEC membership. If your school is not a member, or needs to renew membership, now is the time.
I look forward to seeing all of you in Orlando in April 13-17, 2013 to continue hearing your voice as we work together for all.
